There are few things harder to work with than a messy pantry!
If your shelves are disorganized, all your foodstuff is out of place, and things are a mess, it’s impossible to find what you’re looking for.
Here are some tips to help you keep your pantry organized:
- Take everything out — Before you can organize anything, take EVERYTHING off the shelves. Empty out the pantry completely, and give the shelves a good wiping down. Get rid of any traces of spilled food, as that could bring rats to your kitchen. Make sure the shelves are properly cleaned before you start re-organizing the shelves.
- Get rid of the junk –– There is bound to be a few items you absolutely don’t need, such as foods you’ve kept for years but never used. Throw away anything that is rotten or expired, and donate anything you don’t need. The less stuff you have to put back into your pantry, the easier it will be to keep everything neat and tidy.
- Organize everything according to type –– All of the baking stuff in one section, the dried goods in another, the noodles in a separate section, and canned goods over there. Make sure that everything is organized according to its type, as that will make it much easier for you to find what you’re looking for when it’s time to cook.
- Use see-through storage — Don’t use carboard boxes to organize everything, but try for clear plastic or wire-frame containers and shelves. You want to be able to see everything in your pantry at a glance, and see-through storage will make it much easier for you to find what you need in a hurry.
